I had lunch today at the King of Soul Cafe & I must say, I truly enjoyed myself. I had the Catfish dinner with Cabbage, Mac N Cheese and it comes with Cornbread. I had Sweet potato pie, their style of Southern Punch and Iced tea(For us southerners, Sweet Tea). The Catfish, Cabbage & Mac N Cheese was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend it. It was all seasoned very well and cooked to perfection. Now the Cornbread, was entirely too dry. It was just crumbly and hard. I didn't even try it because it was too hard for me. The sweet potato pie was good as well. Was it $5 good for that size? Absolutely not. However, it was good. I say a reasonable price for a piece of a pie that size is about $3 not $5. The Iced tea and Southern punch was very good as well. I enjoyed the punch so much, I had to ask for one to go. The customer service is amazing. The young lady who was the server very professional with a hint of friendly, a splash of being personal and a razzle dazzle of "I don't take no shit." She greeted each and every single person who came in with a huge smile on her face. It was getting busy but she handled it all very well. The atmosphere is very cute. When I come back to visit St. Louis, I will definitely come here again.
My go to place for the old time favorite soul food choices. Hands down grandmas cooking. Friday or Sundays are the traditional days I enjoy going for Fish Friday and Soul Food Sunday. They don't disappoint!
The service and the food is outstanding! Owners came to our table and had great conversation! Can't say enough about how amazing this place is. Ambiance is awesome too.
Everything is EXCELLENT!!! The food is delicious, the service is warm & welcoming and the ambiance is comfortable. I have been two days back2back. You will not be disappointed!!!
The food was good. They had a full house, and the wait for carry out wasn't long, only 12-15 minutes from the time she took my order. I also had meatloaf. The meatloaf is very, very savory. The meatloaf will be my go-to when I go back. The yams were good, the Mac n cheese was okay. I like my Mac n Cheese not so creamy.
Jesus! Everything about this local soul food spot is everything I could ever imagine! Imagine a one stop spot for everything soul food, including drinks and desserts. The owner and her son were very friendly and were extremely patient with us. There were sooooo many different options, it's hard to choose. The vibe was very much a family feel, like comfort food. I haven't been home in quite some time, so I appreciated it. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, cabbage, and corn bread while my friend ordered wings, dressing, and cabbage. I also tried the catfish fillet and macaroni and cheese, and let me tell ya.. whew! Everything was a hit, trust me! If I lived closer, I'd live there. But I highly recommend this spot if you're ever in the Ferguson area!
I love this place! The service is great - always friendly and efficient. The best soul food in the neighborhood! Depending on the day, it can be crowded and noisy with the music blaring a bit too loud to have comfortable table conversations.
